Amazon Fresh opens a new distribution centre in Milan

Amazon Fresh has started operations at the new urban distribution center in Peschiera Borromeo, on the outskirts of Milan. The activities managed here will serve customers in the metropolitan area and gradually give a boost to those selling food products on Amazon.

The full operation of the facility was confirmed by Simona Sisca, head of logistics for Amazon Fresh distribution centers in Italy. According to the manager, the Peschiera Borromeo site will allow the company to provide customers in the Milan area with a wide selection of high-quality fresh products. Fast home delivery should do the rest to encourage many users to adopt this kind of service.

Indeed, Amazon has already equipped its site with a wide selection of products from some popular brands like Il Viaggiator Goloso and U! Confronta e Risparmia. Others, such as La Rosa dei Gusti, will be added soon. With such a vast and diversified offering, it’s clear that the company intends to quickly gain market share and become one of the leading operators for those looking to grocery shop in Milan.

Fresh Promotions for Customers

To make Fresh more appealing, Amazon has announced that this month there will be special offers on essential products. Discounts promoted this way could reach up to 30%, making the shopping cart a bit “lighter.”

Additionally, Amazon has made several updates available that will make the shopping experience on Fresh even easier. The app has been updated with:

• A more intuitive design, allowing users to reach checkout in just a few steps;
• The introduction of the “Shopping Day” feature. This new service allows you to schedule the time to receive your groceries every week. Simply add a selection of your favorite products to the cart automatically and set the delivery frequency. It’s an effective way to keep your pantry stocked with essential products, effortlessly.

Finally, Amazon announced that over 80 employees will be working at the new site. With the new opening in Milan, the company has created more than 3,700 permanent jobs in Lombardy.
